Can I use an enhanced i.d. to go into Canada?

I'm planning on going to Canada soon with my school and I was wondering if I could use an enhanced i.d. I don't have a license so I cannot get the Enhanced License & its cheaper than a passport card. So should I just get the I.D? Will it be okay?
