Earned Income Credit and Head of Household?

My son is 18 and a full time college student. He lives full time with me and has no job. Except being a full-time student. Last year they did not give me the earned income credit even though he was a full time student in high school and graduating. He had just turned 18 in April. I had been reviewing the Earned Income Credit info so can I receive the Earned Income Credit this year I file as head of household. I am also looking for somewhere to file my taxes for free. I live in Akron, Ohio. I need a place that does walk-ins because of my work schedule.
